It has been put together by Peter King, the well-known, acclaimed editor of the very successful annual Good Gardens Guide and author of many other gardening books. It also includes information on landscape parks and gardens, green spaces, arboretums, botanical gardens, herb gardens, teaching gardens and details of hotels with good gardens of their own or which are near to areas of gardening interest. An excellent book, it is arranged alphabetically by county, from Bedfordshire to Yorkshire, followed separately by those gardens in Ireland, Scotland and Wales, the gardens chosen for inclusion being selected and assessed by a large team of independent inspectors. The descriptions are clear, concise and easy to follow and include garden names, star categories, telephone/fax numbers, owners' names, location, travel and parking, opening details, entrance fees and symbols, etc. The book concludes with a number of maps showing all the main gardens.
