Brooks Jr., began publishing a mimeographed newsletter covering the artwork of cartoonist Vaughn Bode'. Printed in small runs of 500 or fewer copies, Beahm and Brooks' fanzine, which ran eight issues, was the forerunner of their professionally published VAUGHN BODE' INDEX, a collaboration between both fans and Vaughn Bode'. Unfortunately, the INDEX was published posthumously, as Vaughn died in 1976 in a household accident. Considered one of the finest cartoonists of his generation, the work of the late Vaughn Bode' has always been in demand, with original art commanding collector's prices—recently, one color page from "Deadbone Erotica" sold for $13,000 at auction. Long out of print, and commanding premium prices through secondary sources, the eight individual issues of THE BODE' BULLETIN, which published little-seen or previously unpublished art by Vaughn Bode', has now been collected in an authorized reprint edition, endorsed by George Beahm and by the Vaughn Bode' estate, administered by his son Mark. This reprint edition of 114 letter-size pages has been enhanced with new text by Beahm that explains the history of The Bode' Collectors, which he and Cuyler ("Ned") Brooks began, and with detailed notes for each issue.
