Their intention was to eliminate the power base of the PLO in Lebanon. This intervention, as Bulloch explains, left 19,000 dead, 31,000 wounded and 60,000 homeless, and destroyed a quarter of Beirut, culminating three months later in the gruesome massacre at the Sabra and Chatila refugee camps. The work also illustrates also illustrates the deep divisions within Lebanese society itself, between Chtistian and Moslems, rich anf poor, Sunni and Shia; native Lebanese and Palestinian refugees; as well as the role of Lebanon's more powerful neighbours. The book itself is in a good/very good overall condition. It is however, a former private library copy. It therefore comes with the normal marks that one would expect. DJ very good.
