The collection in the possession of the District of Columbia Library consists largely of building and street views - churches, cemeteries, schools, businesses, and other public buildings are well represented - but also contains some images of Washingtonians, including many images of the adventures of the Wanderlusters, a co-ed hiking club. He knew Humboldt and took a two years voyage to the Andes, Peru, Chile and Bolivia, describing some new species.
