A book about the the most notorious serial killer in Victorian England (and incidentally the acknowledged first modern serial killer) Jack the Ripper. The book starts with what is actually known about the squalid environment that the victims inhabited; and victims themselves identities, last time seen etc., the escalating mutilations; and of Jack the Ripper himself (? herself). Then " ... the authors give a complete and vivid account of the theories that began to appear even before the murders were over, and that have poured out ever since: the barrister, the mad doctors, the insane Royal Prince, the ritual murder theory, the notion that the Ripper might be a woman. Every explanation worth considering, however bizarre, is given a fair hearing ... " from front fold over panel blurb. The little rubbing of the book edges and panels with a little age toning of the text block edges and pages. Tape residue can be seen to the end pages.
